Are you on Team Oyster? Some people love them, and some people hate them. Don't know which side you're on? Well, there's no better place to find out than the Mississippi Gulf Coast. This is where the oysters call home, and they're a delicacy in these parts.

Here's a look at the absolute best oysters near Long Beach, MS. And if that salty brine makes you a little thirsty, you won't want to miss the best breweries in the area, as well.

WELL, SHUCKS, WHERE CAN I GET THE BEST OYSTERS NEAR LONG BEACH, MS?‍

It's not hard to find raw oysters on the half shell--during the season, it's a special on nearly every menu. But finding outstanding ones--fresh as can be, and maybe cooked to perfection (or maybe not?) is tougher.

LIL' RAY'S RESTAURANT

Lil' Rays Fresh Oysters

The only question about getting the best oysters at Lil' Ray's is, will it be a full dozen or a half? They're always fresh and only available during the oyster season--November through April.

BACCHUS ON THE BEACH

Bacchus On The Beach has a more varied oyster bar menu, and it's a great stop if you want to try some various oyster recipes. Char-baked, Rockefeller, Jackpot, and Gris-Gris are your choices here. If you haven't tried them all yet, their combo allows you to sample all four.

Bacchus is, you guessed it, right on the beach. With a full bar, amazing views of Mississippi Sound, and some of the best oysters in town, you can't go wrong.

HALF SHELL OYSTER HOUSE

There's no doubt that you'll get some great oysters here--it's all in the name! Bringing New Orleans-style seafood down to the coast, the Half Shell Oyster House has a great menu.

Their oysters are some of the freshest, highest-quality examples in town. They get their farm-raised oysters entirely from the Deer Island Oyster Company right here in Mississippi.

Besides raw on the half shell, you can try classics like Rockefeller and char-broiled. You can also try some southern-style takes, like the Oysters Orleans. It's their award-winning recipe with open-flame roasted oysters in a smokey cajun sauce and topped with parmesan. Yum!

SHAGGY'S GULFPORT BEACH

If not everyone in your party wants to try the shellfish, head over to Shaggy's. Their menu is varied, with delicious burgers, salads, wraps, and flatbreads. And don't forget their extensive frozen beach drink menu!

But their oysters are great, too. They don't have many oyster options on their menu, but you can get some amazing ones on the half shell during the season.

BEACH BLVD STEAMER

Beach Blvd Steamer Oysters

The Beach Blvd Steamer is tucked inside the Island View Casino complex. As you'd expect, the food and service are top-notch. Their "Glorious Oyster" menu is extensive, with simple on the half shell examples or fancier options. Their wood-fired char-broiled oysters are outstanding!

As their name suggests, they serve an assortment of fantastic seafood. If you're looking to make a meal of it, check out their steamer platters or the filet off their pecan wood-fired grill.

SLURPING THE BEST OYSTERS IN TOWN‍

Nothing completes a trip to the Mississippi Gulf Coast like a half dozen oysters. Try each recipe and find your favorite. The salt air, the sand between your toes, and that satisfyingly briny taste are all you need to find your island self.
